| ** The 2007 banquet will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2007 @ 2pm ** 1. Who is the banquet for? The soccer banquet is for ALL members of every league's all star list, both first and second team members. Also invited are the player's families and friends, and anyone interested in Section II soccer.
2. What is announced at the banquet? In addition to recognition for the all star members of every league, players, goalkeepers, and coaches of the year at each Class (AA,A,B,C,and D) are announced. It is also when all state players are announced and Section II all stars are listed. Further, Section II usually gives some special awards and the sportsmanship of the year awards are given. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras and take pictures of their league's all stars.
3. Where and when is the banquet? It is scheduled for Sunday, December 9, 2007, at the Holiday Inn on Brodaway in Saratoga Springs (this is a change from 2006). It is set for a 2:00 PM start and doors will open by 1:00 PM.
4. What advantage is there to getting there early for a good seat? None, really, but if you aim toward 1:30 you will avoid the long lines closer to 2:00. Seats are assigned by school connection and sectional champions are seated toward the front of the room. If your school has been in the back area for two years in a row, ask your coach to mention that in his order and we will try to place your school more toward the front.
5. Will college coaches be there? The contact point with college coaches now seems to be the Senior All Star games. The banquet seems to be more just a time for Section II to honor our athletes. A few college coaches attend. All are welcome.
6. How do I get tickets? PLEASE mail all the orders for one school at one time. It makes our work 100% easier to mail once to a school district rather than to individuals. Please see your school's coach to make an order for the banquet. The exception to this is for individuals who are not connected to a player or school district. Those folks should order tickets directly from Ernie Clapper.
7. When is the deadline for ordering tickets? ALL TICKET ORDERS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY FRIDAY, November 30th FOR TICKETS TO BE MAILED BACK BEFORE THE BANQUET. Any ticket orders postmarked after Nov. 30th will be held at the door for that school or person ...however, please NOTE: ANY TICKET ORDERS POSTMARKED AFTER NOVEMBER 30 WILL ONLY BE AWARDED ON A SPACE AVAILABLE BASIS ONLY. This has proven to be a very popular event, and a sellout is not just a possibility, it is a probability. GET YOUR ORDERS IN EARLY TO BE SURE OF A SPOT AT THE BANQUET.
8. How much does the banquet cost? Tickets cost $22.00 per person. Many schools pay for their athletes to go, but that varies school to school. Check with your school officials to find out your school policy.
9. Who do you make out checks to? This is VERY IMPORTANT. Here is the name: Capital Region Soccer Coaches' Association (nothing to do with CRS other than the name!!) Of course, if you would rather, make out the check to CRS!! We would enjoy getting the cash, the only problem is, you won't get a dinner!!
10. Where does the order get mailed? Mail it to: Ernie Clapper, 265 Co Hwy 154, Gloversville, NY 12078
11. Questions not answered??? Call Ernie Clapper 725-5275 or e-mail (eclapper@capitalregionsoccer.com)
