Here is Billp's note on the pictures:
Here are some pictures of ball distribution in Iraq and Afghanistan (air- drop), that I have collected over the last couple of weeks.
Along with our Section II balls… a soccer distributor in Tenn. (new equipment), and a club from Colorado are also providing matching contributions.
Collectively, we have funded projects from as far away as Mosul in northern part of Iraq, down to Fallujah, Sammara (near the Golden Dome) where the fighting was really intense at the beginning of the war (but has calmed down much since). Most of our balls were distributed in and around Baqubah with the 1st Cavalry (Tim’s brigade and division), where among ‘other things’ a school was rebuilt along with its soccer field. At Tim’s forward operating base (FOB Warhorse), they hold a ‘World Cup’ regularly.
They have an embedded journalist heading over there pretty soon…so as soon as I see the last installment of our Capital Region balls (approx- 20 +/-)
I will forward the pictures….hopefully with a picture or two of Tim.
But you can feel the smiles from here!
Billp
Ps The picture of the Stryker vehicle is the same as what Tim drives….hopefully heading home soon.
